Clan Bulletin for February, 2013

Hey guys, just wanted to do a bulletin this month for updates, info, and the direction our clan will be heading in the next couple of months (note: this will be long :P)

First off, as some of you may know, we have opened up our community to the PC community. This is for a number of reasons including some personal, and I will list a few of them off. Firstly, it is extremely hard to recruit members on the Xbox that will comply with our rules, EXTREMELY! and after trying and trying and trying to get members on the Xbox, we tried to find another way to get members. Another reason is that PC games are a lot more competitive than console games, PC games, such as League of legends and StarCraft 2, are not like the typical first person shooters nowadays and do require a lot more skill and are a lot more competitive than console games. Now, this doesn't mean that we are not going to recruit members on the Xbox anymore, it just means that once we get a good amount of members on the PC, we will start to try and recruit members on the Xbox once more. So instead of having 5 people trying to recruit members for the Xbox, now we only may have 1-2 members recruiting with the other 3-4 focusing on recruiting members on the PC. Go to the Games tab to look at the list of PC games we are supporting currently.

Also, there has been a change in the so-called Fade "Clan", as it is not really a "Clan" but more of a Gaming Community. This is because of a few things. Most of our members in our "Xbox" division are not all that competitive or that "Good" skill wise. I'm not saying that our players are bad, there just average, casual players, nothing special. I'm not trying to diss the members of our community, I'm just saying that they wouldn't be able to qualify for gaming tournaments or any MLG tournaments. Our "Clan" or now "Community" is more about being friendly gamers, meeting new people, playing as a team, and ultimately, having fun, which suites more of a Gaming Community than a Clan. We still are a Clan and always will be a Clan, but I'm saying that it is not just a Clan anymore but also a Gaming Community. We will still be having Clan Battles, Training, Tournaments etc. as we always have, but we have decided that we will eventually be creating 2 different divisions, a casual, and competitive division, to separate the casual and competitive people. The competitive division will also be the ones competing in most of our clan battles and tournaments.

Some of you may know that we do have a Clan YouTube Channel, but there isn't a lot of Gaming videos and rather a lot of random videos and unboxing's. This is because it is very hard to have a popular gaming channel and to get noticed on YouTube, so we had a little strategy in mind. Last year, we had a casual YouTube Channel that wasn't related to our Clan in any way at all, and wasn't very popular either. So we sat down and had a talk on how to make it popular because creating viral videos is very difficult and you have no control on the success of viral videos. We started to do a little research on how to get channels "Popular" and we discovered that basically, you have to watch the news, watch TV keep in touch with society and any big news/event that you think will be huge, and your one of the first ones to discover it, upload it on YouTube to see how it does, and it worked GREAT. Our first video was during the 2011 football playoffs, and Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos made an amazing 80 yard pass which led to a Touchdown and winning the game. We thought this may be successful, so we used an HD PVR to record it and upload it to YouTube and guess what, it was a hit. We got over 100,000 views by the next morning and was climbing and after 2 weeks was almost at half a million. Due to advertising, we also made a ton of cash but then something terrible happened. NFL copyrighted the video and took it down along with our channel. It sucks, but there's nothing I could do, of course. Now back to The Fade's YouTube channel, we tried to do the same thing but with our own, original (well some) videos that we wouldn't get banned from uploading them. We did unboxing's, giveaways, etc. anything to get subscribers and video views and once we had enough, we would start to upload gameplay and community videos, and that time has come. With over 250 subscribers and 60,000 video views, we thought it would be time to start uploading video game footage. At the moment, we only have Dxtory, a video recording program like Fraps (claimed to be better though) for the PC. We have uploaded 1 video of a StarCraft 2 win and it only has 16 video views but it was really only a render test to see the quality of the video as it was uploaded on YouTube. If you want to check it out I will put it under this post but in the meantime here's a link to our YouTube channel if you wold like to check out other videos we have or would like to subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-apZwEmni8  PS: We are also planning on buying a few Hauppauge HD PVR's for selected members in our community on our Xbox division so it will not be just PC footage.

This last paragraph will be about the rest of the miscellaneous we are going to discuss. In the past 2 weeks, we had 5 members join, 3 on the Xbox, and 2 on the PC which is amazing and our newest member on the Xbox, Scorpioal FADE, didn't join because 1 of our recruitment officers tried to get him to, but rather he joined because he like our community and thought it was good, and changed his Gamertag without any of us telling him to or anything which is great to know that we are getting heard of. Also on the newly opened PC division, we are opened it up on Saturday, February 9, 2013 and by today (Monday, February 11, 2013) we already have 2 PC members in StarCraft 2 which is a ratio of 1 member per day which is awesome. As some of you may know, we finally got Google Ads to work on our Website in last weeks Website Update and some of you have asked "Why do you have Google Ads on your Website" and the reason for that is, is that this website does cost money you know, and with Google Ads, it does lighten the burden of how much we pay for this website on a monthly basis. We know it may draw attention away from our website which is only why we will have 3 ads and they are only on the homepage. Also during our website update, we decided to keep the post "Looking for Admins and Members With Specific Skill Sets" because, WE STILL ARE. We still need any of those people with any of those skill sets because we are trying to make our Clan better and more professional in any way possible. If anyone viewing this could please look at the post because we desperately need people with those skill sets and we will assure you that you have a great time with The Fade on a daily basis. Lastly, The About section has been updated once again with the names of new members and our "new" PC division, and the Join/Contact page has been updated slightly.

Thank you members for reading this post and I hope you guys like the new direction this Clan is heading in. Thanks again!
